Finals week occurs every December before Christmas break. While arguably the most important part of the year, it is also the most stressful for many students.
Many students begin to study and prep for their tests over the weeks leading up to their finals, this can cause anxiety and stress in the minds of students who might be worried about their performance.
One such student Jacob Hogg (junior) expressed how “having finals on the final week is more stressful as it gives little time to make up any other work aside from those other days of the week”
Students are typically busy on these days with either personal issues or other classes, so finals week can be a big source of pressure for them. However, several resources can be used to prepare and reassure yourself for finals.
One such resource is tutoring, The MVHS tutor Ms Harrison is a valuable resource for kids who wish to catch up. Her classroom lets students work on and get help for work in a quieter more focused environment. When asked Ms Harrison said “When it gets to finals week i offer a quiet place with fewer distractions”
This can help students focus more as noise can be stressful during times of great focus.
Additionally, Ms Harrison commented “I am available during intervention” which occurs after finals throughout the week.
Using resources like Ms Harrisons’ room and her tutoring can allow students such as Jacob to focus harder on tasks and set themselves up for success.
This resource is additionally available throughout the year and students can find Ms Harrison in F209
