As the first semester ends at Mountain View High School, students are working hard on finals before Winter Break. Finals can be stressful, but they also give students a chance to show what they’ve learned. Every student is different– different circumstances and different goals, but in the end, they all just want to get through it.
“I felt a little unprepared for some finals but overall good,” said Cole Whitcomb, 11, when discussing his preparation levels. Other students share the same sentiment. “I feel unprepared, but finals have been easy so far, so I feel good,” said Thayne Sparks, 11. Both seem to be handling finals week okay even if they’re a little nervous.
When asked “What is your hardest final this year and why?” Whitcomb said AP Pre-Calculus was his hardest final because it’s “cumulative,” which means it covers the whole semester. Thayne said his hardest was French because there were “a lot of questions,” which made it tough to prepare.
Whitcomb said his grades were “good but not great,” but he’s glad he improved his Spanish grade before finals. Thayne said he has “B’s and 2 C’s” and is trying to improve them during finals.
When asked “What is your easiest final and why?” Cole said his English final was the easiest because it was “short and not too challenging.” Thayne said his math final was easy because they got a packet to help.
Finals week can be hard, but it’s also a time for students to push through and finish strong. Whether they’re studying for hard tests or enjoying easier ones, students can show that doing your best and staying positive can really help. Now it’s time for Winter Break!
