The Mountain View High School Girls Flag Football Team is having a great first season with a 14-1 record! This is their very first year playing, but you wouldn’t be able to tell by how great they’re doing on the field. The team has come together and worked hard, which has led to their amazing success.
I got the chance to interview sophomore linebacker Ellie Roberts to ask her a few questions about the team and their journey so far. When I asked Ellie if this was her first year playing flag football, she said, “Yes, this is my first year playing.” It’s really impressive to see how well the team is doing even though many players are new to the sport.
When I asked what started your team’s success this year Ellie answered “The whole team having a good relationship and being confident in ourselves,” she said. It’s clear that teamwork has played a big role in their achievements.
She also gave a lot of credit to their coach Noah Tank and the team’s hard work. “We have an amazing coach, and we all work together really well,” Ellie said when asked why she thinks her team is so dominant this season.
As for goals, both Ellie and the team have big plans. “Our team goal is to win the playoffs and my personal goal is to get a pick 6” she shared. Personally, Ellie wants to make a big play by getting a pick 6, which means intercepting the ball and scoring a touchdown and as a team they want to win enough games to make it to the playoffs and win.
With such a great start to their first season, it’s exciting to see how far the Mountain View Girls Flag Football Team can go! Fans are hopeful that they’ll continue their winning streak and make the playoffs. Go Mountain View!
