School lunch is a very divisive topic among the student body.
School-provided lunches have long been a source of conversation among students, with the predominant opinion being that they are unsatisfactory. Many students do not get school lunch due to this.
Junior student, Jacob Hogg commented that he does not get the school lunches because they are “gross and just taste bad”
This opinion is prevalent among the majority of students. This could be due to many factors including the taste, look, actual nutritional value, and type of food.
The lunch room provides a daily meal that swaps out every day, a chicken sandwich, and Peanut butter and jelly sandwich alternatives. they also offer vegan options such as salads and veggie wraps. With this multitude of options, why do most kids still not eat school-provided lunch? The multiple alternatives and other sources of food such as Freddys and Pelican Joes contribute towards that factor. if a student does not enjoy the school lunch they can simply go to one of these establishments.
In addition, most students have some form of transportation to go out and get their food. All these factors come together to form an overall decrease in the number of students who get school lunches. However, this does not mean no one does.
Despite these factors, the lunch room remains full and the line packed. This could be due to how available the lunches are as they come at no cost. This leads to students who can’t leave campus or do not want to pay for food, an option to still eat and have lunch which is much appreciated by those students who do get lunch
Overall the opinions on school lunches are divisive however most agree that their availability is excellent.
