Interact Club, an extension of the Rotary organization (a community service organization), has been serving the MVHS community for eight years. Interact primarily sponsors and organizes community service events. Members also volunteer their own time for various charitable organizations.
It was started by Mrs. Evans, a Mountain View history teacher. Since then, it has provided students with the opportunity to serve their community. Ms. Evans said, “The best part of Interact is watching students work together to create different projects and come up with new ideas of things we can do for the community.”
The club meets every Tuesday at lunch to make blankets, bracelets, and dog toys for the community. Outside of school, students attend workshops and volunteer for non-profit organizations. Recently, they hosted a lap-a-thon for Breast Cancer, where teams/clubs could register to win prizes. All of the proceeds went to the National Breast Cancer Foundation INC to support research and cancer patients. Yuki Chen, a co-president with Rebecca Nepolitano said, “The best part of Interact is creating a community that is willing to serve and help others.”
